Preparing to commemorate the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred
In February, Ukraine and the international community commemorate the 7th anniversary of the tragic events that occurred in Independence Square (Maidan) during the Revolution of Dignity. Every year on this anniversary, the UWC Mission to Ukraine participates in memorial services in Kyiv and actively supports the work of related NGOs.
On February 8, Director of the UWC Mission to Ukraine Serhiy Kasyanchuk held a working meeting with members of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundreds‘ families. In particular, the meeting was attended by Yuriy Aksenin, the Chairman of the “Family of Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred” NGO, Svitlana Bader, a member “Family of Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred“ NGO, and Roman Dzivinsky, a participant in the Revolution of Dignity.
The following was discussed:
– preserving the memory of the Heavenly Hundred and the Revolution of Dignity;
– development of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred National Memorial Complex – Revolution of Dignity Museum;
– projects aimed at national-patriotic education of youth;
– justice for all victims of security forces during the Euromaidan
Among other things, the meeting focused on the celebration of the Day of Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred in Ukraine on February 20 and other ceremonial events dedicated to the memory of the participants and events of the Revolution of Dignity.
On February 18 at 19:00 – 19:45 (Kyiv), a memorial service for the Heavenly Hundred and those who fought for Ukraine’s independence will take place in St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Cathedral. On the morning of February 20, heads of state and representatives of diplomatic missions will lay flowers at the Memorial to the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred. At 10:00, a memorial service will be held at the chapel on the Alley of Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred in Kyiv.
