Challenges make us stronger: UWC Leadership meets with His Beatitude Epifaniy
On April 28, UWC Leadership held a videoconference with His Beatitude Epifaniy, Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, and Archbishop of Chernihiv and Nizhyn Yevstratiy.
The discussion focused on the new global challenges facing the society, as well as the role of the Church in spiritual guidance during the difficult times. Paul Grod, UWC President, outlined priorities of UWC COVID-19 Task Force, presented the situation in the Ukrainian diaspora communities worldwide and thanked for the opportunity to join Easter virtual services.
His Beatitude Epifaniy highlighted a number of important initiatives of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine in response to immediate humanitarian, medical and socio-economic needs in Ukraine. The discussion touched upon multiple areas of cooperation including ensuring international recognition and jurisdiction for the Orthodox Church of Ukraine as well as strengthening ties between the Church and the global Ukrainian community.
“Today’s challenges offer an opportunity to be stronger, once again reaffirming the unity of the global Ukrainian nation. The actions and leadership of the Church in these difficult times are an integral part for this unity” – stated Paul Grod, UWC President.
