Meeting with First Deputy of the Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine
Last week the First Vice-President of the Ukrainian World Congress, Stefan Romaniw, UWC Executive Director, Mariia Kupriianova, and the Director of the UWC Mission to Ukraine, Serhiy Kasyanchuk, held a virtual meeting with the First Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, Rostyslav Karandieiev. Anton Drobovych, the head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance, has also joined the meeting.
The meeting participants discussed fostering Ukrainian language in the world, strengthening cultural diplomacy and countering Russian disinformation during the hybrid war.
The Ministry sticks to its firm position regarding the question of the state language policy insisting that no amendments to language law will be introduced, but on the contrary, strong implementation of the law will be put into life.
UWC First Vice-President, Stefan Romaniw highlighted the importance of systemic collaboration with the civil society and global Ukrainian communities. In particular, he called to support the global campaign on signing the petition to include word “Holodomor” to English dictionaries. One of the key points of discussion was also the construction of the Museum of Holodomor in Kyiv, planned to open its doors in 2023, commemorating the 90th anniversary of the tragedy.
The meeting participants also touched upon the issues of state support and development of churches in Ukraine.
The First Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, Rostyslav Karandieiev, expressed his willingness to cooperate with UWC in terms of culture, cultural diplomacy and global information policy.
