Ukrainian World Congress President meets with President of the Senate of Belgium to discuss continued support for Ukraine
On 8 December 2015, Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) President Eugene Czolij met with the President of the Senate of Belgium Christine Defraigne to discuss the need for continued support for Ukraine.
During his working trip to Brussels the UWC President also had meetings with the Head of the Belgium-Ukraine Friendship Group and Member of the Belgian Parliament, Georges Dallemagne, the Director of Eastern and South East Europe and Central Asia of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belgium, Jo Indekeu, and the Counsellor of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs, Theodora Gentzis.
Eugene Czolij conveyed the concerns of the UWC for the Belgian people during the high alert in Belgium following the tragic events in Paris.
The UWC President also called upon the Belgian authorities to remain resolute and unwavering to combat all forms of terrorism, particularly state‑sponsored terrorism, including the terrorists in Eastern Ukraine, who are backed, trained, equipped and financed by Russia.
The President of the Association of Ukrainians in Belgium Igor Chocholak and UWC Liaison Officer in the EU Maryna Iaroshevych also participated in these meetings.
“The meetings were very constructive and the Belgium high-level officials assured their continued support for Ukraine,” – stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
