Ukrainian World Congress reaffirms there is no doubt who started the war in Eastern Ukraine
On 18 February 2016 the Catholic News Agency published an interview with His Holiness Pope Francis which included the following statement regarding the war in Eastern Ukraine: “everyone has their own idea of this war, who started it, what to do and it’s evident that this is a historical issue.”
The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) reiterates that there are only two versions regarding this war – that of the international community which has resolutely condemned the aggression of the Russian Federation in Crimea and Eastern Ukraine, and that of Russian President Vladimir Putin who hides this fact with “little green men.”
The UWC hopes that the Vatican is on the side of the international community.
“The Ukrainian World Congress calls upon the international community, including the Vatican, as a rule, to discuss fundamental issues concerning Ukraine in the presence of Ukrainian hierarchs and governing authorities, and not in their absence,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
