UWC Calls on Diaspora Ukrainians to Help the Victims of the Disaster in Haiti
UWC CALLS ON DIASPORA UKRAINIANS TO HELP THE VICTIMS OF THE DISASTER IN HAITI
Haiti, one of the poorest countries in North America, was struck by a devastating earthquake on January 12, 2010. Tens of thousands Haitians were killed in the disaster, millions have been affected. Although international aid has started arriving, the situation remains grave – survivors are unable to receive medical assistance, there is a lack of food and water and absence of physical resources and finances to deal with the catastrophic consequences of the earthquake.
The Ukrainian World Congress appeals to Ukrainians in the Diaspora to display goodwill and charity and join the efforts of the International Red Cross in helping the survivors and dealing with the consequences of the tragedy in Haiti and to pray for the victims of this catastrophe and their families.
May we be responsive to human suffering and not leave those affected alone!
