UWC welcomes extension of sanctions by Council of the European Union over actions undermining territorial integrity of Ukraine
The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) welcomes the decision of the Council of the European Union to extend sanctions for a further six months, until 15 September 2017, against individuals whose actions undermined or threatened the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
The decision confirmed that the circumstances under which the sanctions had been first introduced in March 2014 had not changed. The restrictive measures consist of asset freezes and travel bans.
“The Ukrainian World Congress urges all EU member states to firmly support Ukraine and its people as they, by withstanding Russian aggression on their border, continue to ensure peace and security in the entire region,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
