AUGB welcomes Princess Anne’s historic visit to Ukraine

The Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain (AUGB) welcomed Princess Anne’s first official visit to Ukraine on Sept. 30, a trip that signified Britain’s continued support for Kyiv amid Russia’s ongoing war.

Thank you Princess Anne for standing with Ukraine and Ukraine’s children!” the AUGB said.

Princess Anne met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and First Lady Olena Zelenska at the St. Sophia’s Cathedral in Kyiv, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Their discussions focused on the return of Ukrainian children who were deported to Russia, the rehabilitation of wounded soldiers, and efforts to improve accessibility for veterans and civilians who are reintegrating into society, Zelenskyy said.

I invited Her Highness to participate in the next summit of the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children,” Ukraine’s second war-time president said.

Zelenskyy thanked the princess for her “special attention and support for Ukraine and our people.

Thank you for the meeting and for engaging with the children who have been returned, as well as with our veterans. I also thank the United Kingdom for its active engagement in our efforts to bring all our children home,” he said.

Princess Anne also paid tribute to the children who lost their lives and met with teenagers who were successfully repatriated from enforced Russian deportation.
