2023 St. Volodymyr the Great Medal recipients!

The Ukrainian World Congress congratulates all 2023 St. Volodymyr the Great Medal recipients! The Ukrainian World Congress presented awards for an exceptional contribution to the development of Ukrainian life in the diaspora and the development of Ukraine. The awarding ceremony took place during the XII Congress of the UWC.

In the collective nomination, the award went to the Association of Ukrainians in Poland Branch in Przemyśl and the Parliament of Estonia. Five politicians were also awarded – Borys Wrzesnewskyj from Canada, Marcy Kaptur from the United States of America, Pauline Latham from the United Kingdom, Chrystia Freeland from Canada, and Diana Varnaitė from Lithuania. Three global Ukrainian leaders were honored with the award posthumously.

ST. VOLODYMYR THE GREAT MEDAL

The medal was initiated in 1988, and the first recipients were awarded in 1989.

St. Volodymyr the Great Medal is the highest award of the UWC, which is presented for an exceptional contribution to the development of Ukrainian life in the diaspora and the development of Ukraine.

The UWC awards this medal to individuals who have made an exceptional contribution to the development of Ukrainian life in the diaspora and the development of Ukraine per the goals and objectives outlined in the UWC Charter. The St. Volodymyr the Great Medal will be awarded during the XII UWC Congress scheduled for October 19-23, 2023.

The medal, based on a silver piece from the time of Volodymyr the Great, was established in 1988. The medal is round with a trident on the front, and the inscriptions СВІТОВИЙ КОНҐРЕС УКРАЇНЦІВ and UKRAINIAN WORLD CONGRESS surrounding it, and on the reverse is an image of St. Volodymyr the Great with the inscription КНЯЗЬ КИЇВСЬКОЇ ДЕРЖАВИ СВ. ВОЛОДИМИР ВЕЛИКИЙ (Prince of the Kyivan State St. Volodymyr the Great). The medal is made of silver with a gilded gold ring.



CRITERIA

Criteria for the award is a significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian life in the diasporaand the nation building process of Ukraine in accordance with the goals and objectives of the UWCas specified in the UWC constitution.

UWC may awardindividuals who have made a significant contribution to the development of thediaspora and/or Ukraine.
