Trump promises ‘major statement’ as his chief envoy Kellogg visits Kyiv for one week

KYIV – Amid U.S. Special Envoy Charles Kellogg’s week-long visit to Ukraine, Russia issued direct threats to him by scrambling aircraft with hypersonic missiles.
Nationwide air raid alerts sounded in a sign of intimidation by Moscow and a clear signal that anyone who helps Kyiv becomes a target.
“We discussed the path to peace and what we can practically do together to bring it closer. This includes strengthening Ukraine’s air defense, joint production, and procurement of defense weapons in collaboration with Europe,” Zelenskyy wrote in a post on X.
The capital and cities across Ukraine “have come under repeated heavy air attacks from Russia forces in recent weeks, raising the ire of Trump and other officials in Washington, who have begun questioning whether Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to hold peace talks to end Europe’s longest and deadliest conflict since the end of World War II,” Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reported.

Italy has supplied Ukraine with an 11th installment of SC70/90 Beretta automatic rifles that have been integrated into the arsenal of several Ukrainian military units. The latest delivery came in May, according to Miltarnyi, a Ukrainian defense news outlet.
It is armed with 5.56×45 millimeter firing chambers that ensure a good firing range of up to 400-500 meters for point targets.
“The design of the rifle is noted for its ergonomics and good balance,” the news outlet wrote. “The contoured handguard and comfortable grip allow for effective control during burst firing. The iron sights are mechanical and adjustable for range but can be complemented with optical modules.”
