Ukraine military holds key defensive positions in easternmost Donetsk region
Ukraine’s General Staff said on Nov. 10 that its troops are still holding the defensive positions in and around the cities of Myrnohrad and Pokrovsk that are located in the eastern Donetsk region that is roughly located 600 kilometers (370 miles) southeast of the capital of Kyiv.
Logistical supply routes remain to the front remain open despite intense fighting, according to Ukraine’s General Staff, refuting Russia’s claims that the area has been encircled or cut off from supply lines.
‘The defense of the Pokrovsk–Myrnohrad area continues. The situation remains difficult and dynamic. The enemy is committing all available reserves but suffering heavy losses,’ said General Staff spokesperson Maj. Andrii Kovalov. Kovalov said said that Ukrainian units in Myrnohrad are firmly holding their positions and continue to repulse Russian forces advancing toward the city.
He added that weapons, ammunition and reinforcements have reached the defending units, and that troop rotations and medical evacuations were successfully conducted. In nearby Pokrovsk, which is a key logistics hub in the same region, Ukrainian forces are countering Russian infantry units who are trying to secure footholds within the city. Kovalov said that troops are carrying out search-and-rescue operations to destroy Russian positions and prevent them from gaining control of critical supply routes.

Russian drone strikes humanitarian vehicle carrying foreign journalists in eastern Ukraine. A Russian attack drone struck an armored vehicle that is used by a Ukrainian humanitarian organization in the front-line city of Kostyantynivka in the easternmost region of Donetsk on Nov. 8, local officials said.
Two foreign journalists inside who were from Austria and Portugal emerged unharmed. The vehicle belonged to Proliska (Snowdrop), according to Kostyantynivka city manager Serhii Horbunov. The Proliska humanitarian group helps evacuate civilians from areas under fire. The fiber-optic–guided drone hit the car during an evacuation mission, causing severe damage.
Austrian journalist Christian Wehrschütz of the national broadcaster ORF and a Spanish journalist were traveling with the team to document the evacuation efforts. Volunteer Yevhen Tkachov, who was nearby, shared footage showing the moment the drone — reportedly equipped with an anti-tank explosive — struck the vehicle, burning through its light armor.
Kostyantynivka lies in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region, near some of the fiercest fighting of Russia’s ongoing invasion. The city has been repeatedly targeted by Russian artillery and drone attacks due to its role as a logistical hub and evacuation route for civilians fleeing front-line areas.

Ukrainian partisans destroy four Russian logistics sites deep inside Russia. Ukraine’s military intelligence agency said on Nov. 9 that resistance groups conducted four sabotage attacks on Russian military logistics facilities in recent weeks striking infrastructure that targeted Russia’s Vologda and Bashkortostan regions, both of which are located hundreds of kilometers from the front lines of Ukraine.
Pro-Kyiv partisans set fire to equipment at three communications towers in Bashkortostan and destroyed a railway relay cabinet near Vologda in coordinated strikes between October and early November, according to Ukraine’s HUR Defense Intelligence.
The agency said such operations are part of a systematic campaign to disrupt Russian logistics and communication networks supporting military operations against Ukraine. HUR said it’s part of a broader campaign to disrupt Russian military logistics and communications networks that support its war effort against Ukraine.
