The Ukrainian National Women’s League of America (UNWLA), the oldest and largest Ukrainian women’s organization in the U.S., has presented a historic new book commemorating its 100th anniversary: “1925–2025: A Century of Commitment – The UNWLA Story.”
Written by Dr. Marta Kichorowska Kebalo, the book traces the UNWLA’s century-long history, “interwoven with waves of immigration, women’s leadership, and the fight to preserve Ukrainian identity.”
Published in English, the volume allows future generations, scholars, and the broader public to learn about the contributions of Ukrainian American women who helped shape civil society and support Ukraine worldwide, the UNWLA said.
The book is intended for a readership of all UNWLA members who “value and cherish our shared history.”
It is also aimed at anyone interested in the significant role diaspora organizations and activists have played in preserving Ukraine’s heritage and aiding the country’s post-independence recovery.
“Born from the ashes of what felt like a lost statehood, the unity of women that began a century ago has grown into a thriving, impactful sisterhood — driven by a steadfast commitment to supporting the Ukrainian people,” the organization said.
Earlier, the UNWLA also expressed gratitude to U.S. First Lady Melania Trump for her work advocating for children worldwide, particularly for her letter to Kremlin ruler Vladimir Putin that emphasized the importance of protecting children during times of war.
