Stand with Ukraine: How to join UWC’s World Vyshyvanka Day campaign

The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) invites Ukrainians and friends of Ukraine worldwide to support Ukraine and join the #VyshyvankaForever campaign – a global show of solidarity on World Vyshyvanka Day on May 15.

How you can participate:

• Wear a traditional embroidered shirt, vyshyvanka, on May 15 – whether at work, school, a rally, or simply out in public.
• Organize or participate in a march or event in your city.
• Join online – share a photo in your vyshyvanka on social media with the phrase: “I wear my vyshyvanka for…” — followed by the name of a temporarily occupied region: Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, or Kharkiv.
• Download and share banners and ornaments from occupied regions for social media, posters, and street actions. All visual materials are available via the link.

This year’s campaign goal is to publicly support Ukraine’s territorial integrity and honors those who are under occupation and cannot freely express their identity. 

For decades, Russia — whether as the Soviet Union, the Russian Empire, or in other forms — has tried to erase the Ukrainian language, culture, and traditions. Yet even in exile and deportation, Ukrainians continued to embroider — their vyshyvankas became a quiet act of resistance.
