UCCA Illinois urges Ukrainians to push for renewed military aid to Ukraine

CHICAGO – The Illinois division of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA) is calling on Ukrainian Americans to contact their legislative representatives in Congress and demand continued military aid for Ukraine.

Tell them if they won’t support military air and air defense for Ukraine you will not support them in the 2026 mid-term election,” the statement reads.

UCCA Illinois shared a post from the American Coalition for Ukraine — an umbrella group of pro-Ukraine organizations in the U.S.

It has been confirmed that the U.S. has paused shipments of critical air-defense and precision munitions to Ukraine, including Patriot missiles, GMLRS rockets, Hellfires, and artillery shells — at a time when Ukraine needs them most to defend against intensifying Russian attacks,” the post reads.

Now is the time to act, both the UCCA Illinois and the coalition said.

This pause has triggered bipartisan alarm in Washington. Now it’s time for all of us to step up once again and urge Congress to act immediately to resume this life-saving support for Ukraine,” they said.

Earlier media reports confirmed that the U.S. suspended the delivery of some weapons to Ukraine, citing concerns over dwindling American stockpiles.

At the same time, on July 3, U.S. President Donald Trump said that Washington continues to supply arms to Ukraine.

We haven’t [paused]. We’re giving weapons. But we’ve given so many weapons — but we are giving weapons, and we’re working with (Ukraine), we’re trying to help them,” Trump said. “But we haven’t… You know, Biden emptied out our whole country giving them weapons and we have to make sure that we have enough for ourselves.
