New York — Representatives of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA) met with Ukraine’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Andriy Melnyk, in a gathering at the Ukrainian Institute of America.
The meeting, the first since Melnyk’s appointment last December, focused on strengthening cooperation amid escalating global challenges, particularly Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine.
The UCCA emphasized its commitment to working closely with the ambassador and his team to advance Ukraine’s interests at the UN, whose main function is to maintain international peace and security since World War II.
“At a time when the UN faces some of its most significant challenges since its founding in 1945 — including russia’s ongoing war against Ukraine — we look forward to collaborating with Ambassador Melnyk and his team at the Mission to amplify our shared commitment to building a more just and peaceful world,” the UCCA said.
The Ukrainian Institute of America described the event as “an evening of heartfelt conversation and community spirit,” saying the ambassador’s speech deeply resonated with attendees.
Ambassador Melnyk brings nearly three decades of diplomatic experience, including roles as Ukraine’s deputy foreign minister (2022–2023), ambassador to Germany (2014–2022), and ambassador to Brazil (2023–2024).
