The Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA), together with the Ukrainian National Information Service (UNIS) Washington, is calling on Ukrainians in the United States and friends of Ukraine to reach out to the White House and urge President Donald Trump to impose more, comprehensive sanctions on Russia and increase support for Ukraine.
The UCCA and UNIS issued this appeal following another massive Russian attack on Kyiv: in the early hours of Aug. 28, the Russians killed 23 civilians, including four children in the Ukrainian capital.
Eight Kyiv residents are still unaccounted for and a day of mourning was declared for Aug. 29 in the ensuing bloody aerial attack that saw some 600 drones and more than 30 various projectiles target the city.
“Once again, last night was another unprecedented evening of terror in Ukraine. Nearly 600 russian drones and ballistic missiles targeted civilians in the middle of the night,” the statement reads.
The U.S. administration has the opportunity to achieve “peace through strength” and hold Russia accountable. This includes implementing robust sanctions and providing essential support to Ukraine, the organizers emphasize.
“Advocacy of this very important matter will prove to be of historical significance,” the statement reads.
