Ukrainian groups hold rally in Washington during Trump–Zelenskyy meeting

Ukrainian organizations staged a peaceful demonstration in Washington, D.C., on Aug. 18 in support of Ukraine. The demonstration began ahead of the meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, according to the Ukrainian Congressional Committee of America (UCCA).

“Standing for Ukraine at the rally in Washington, with our friends and partners showing our support to Ukrainian people and their president Volodymyr Zelenskyy,” said Maryna Baydyuk, President of United Help Ukraine and one of the rally’s organizers.

Members of the Ukrainian Youth Association (CYM) also joined the peaceful demonstration.

“Today, like 100 years ago when CYM was founded, we stand for Ukraine. Always,” the organization’s Baltimore branch wrote.

The demonstration took place near Lafayette Square, the historic park across from the White House, and continued before and during the Trump–Zelenskyy meeting.

United Help Ukraine expressed gratitude to partner organizations and individuals who supported the event, including Ukraine Rally DC, the UCCA, U.S. Ukrainian Activists, activist Marichka Glyten, as well as everyone having supported the event.

“They are fighting for freedom and independence. All they want — all we want — is a just and long-lasting peace. That is the message we bring today. Stand with Ukraine,” United Help Ukraine said.
