The Ukrainian and Myanmar communities held a joint demonstration outside Norway’s parliament in Oslo. The event sought to draw attention to the shared struggle of both nations for freedom, democracy, and the right to independent existence.
While Ukraine continues to resist Russian aggression, a civil war has erupted in Myanmar after a military coup under Min Aung Hlaing.
“Ukraine and Myanmar are both nations fighting for freedom, democracy, and the right to live in a free and independent state,” the participants said.
Russian aggression is not limited to Ukraine — it supports dictatorships, fuels conflicts, and disregards human rights around the world.
“We must stop this evil together. The world cannot remain indifferent,” the participants said.
Jørn Sund-Henriksen, head of the Norwegian-Ukrainian Friendship Association and “a true friend of Ukraine,” addressed the crowd during the rally.
“He drew powerful parallels between the situations in Myanmar and Ukraine, reminding us how Russian influence and oppression are spreading globally — and why it’s crucial to stand united against it,” the organizers said.
The Ukrainian community expressed gratitude to everyone who “showed up today to support the voice of freedom,” they said. “Together, we are strong,”
