
Ukrainians around the world united in dozens of countries to celebrate Ukraine’s Independence Day on Aug. 24. From North America to Europe, from Asia to Africa, voices rang out that called for justice, peace, and decisive action.
More than 30 events were held nationwide in Canada.
In Australia, gatherings took place in roughly 10 states, and in Sydney, Ukrainians and their supporters unfurled the world’s largest Ukrainian flag that spans about 2,400 square meters (25,800 square feet).
In Stockholm, the march was joined by Swedish Foreign Affairs Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard, Stockholm Mayor Karin Wanngård, and Ukrainian community leader Olena Herasymiuk.
More than 500 people participated in a large-scale demonstration in Lisbon.
In Washington, D.C., multiple events took place across the city, including prayers, speeches, picnics, and a march near the White House.
In Warsaw, approximately 30,000 people assembled in the central square of the capital to take part in celebrations.
Hundreds of thousands of people worldwide proudly raised the national blue-and-yellow flag, sang the national anthem, and rallied in support of Ukraine.
