Ukrainians worldwide rally amid escalating Russian aerial terror attacks

As Russia’s aggression escalates toward Ukraine in an unjustifiable war, Ukrainians around the world are taking to the streets to show solidarity with their homeland and remind the global community that the war is far from over.

A powerful demonstration titled “While the World Sleeps, We Search for the Dead” was held in Madrid on Aug. 3.

Organized by the KRAI (Land) Union of Ukrainian Associations in Spain and the ConUkrania Association, the event sought to draw global attention to Russia’s ongoing war crimes.

Participants mentioned that June 2025 was the deadliest month for Ukrainian civilians since the start of the full-scale invasion in February 2022, according to the United Nations.

“Just in that month alone, 232 civilians were killed and over 1,300 wounded, as Russian attacks on residential areas intensify daily,” the organizers said.

Participants called on the international community not to turn a blind eye to this tragedy and emphasized the urgent need for stronger and more tangible support for Ukraine in the face of continued aggression.

Ukrainians marched through the city center in Paris to raise awareness of Ukraine’s ongoing struggle.

“At the rally organized by the Association of Ukrainians in France (AUF), protestors urged NATO and the European Union to close Ukrainian skies to stop Russian terrorism,” said Volodymyr Kogutyak, UWC Vice President for Western Europe and AUF Vice President.

In Auckland, New Zealand, the Mahi For Ukraine Ukrainian community organization held a solidarity rally on Aug. 3 that called on the world to stand with Ukraine.

Meanwhile, in Oshawa, Canada, several dozen supporters assembled for what marked the 249th local demonstration in support of Ukraine since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

The Ukrainian World Congress extends heartfelt gratitude to Ukrainian communities and allies worldwide who continue to defend Ukraine’s interests and keep its voice heard beyond its borders.
