US reaffirms continued military support for Ukraine despite recent pause

The United States will continue to support Ukraine and provide it with weapons despite a recent pause in arms deliveries, the U.S. State Department has said.

Spokesperson Tammy Bruce clarified that the short pause was part of a routine review of all military aid programs — not a shift in U.S. policy.

We have been and remain Ukraine’s biggest supporters. We care about those people. We care about making sure that they have what they need,” Bruce said.

President Donald Trump “remains committed” to providing Ukraine with the tools it needs for self-defense, especially in light of the mass killings and the urgent need for a ceasefire.

We’ve been helping them, we’ll continue to help them. It’s a pretty tough situation. And so that is — that’s our position. It’s what it has always been,” Bruce said.

Meanwhile, The Wall Street Journal, citing sources, reports that President Trump is considering sending additional Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine.

The White House has asked the Pentagon to prepare new options for military aid, while U.S. officials are also assessing whether allied countries can provide more Patriot systems to Ukraine.

According to sources, Washington is exploring the possibility of having allies contribute several more units as well.

A former Pentagon official said the U.S. has already delivered three Patriot systems to Ukraine, Germany has sent another three, and a group of European countries has provided one. However, not all systems are operational at the same time due to maintenance issues.
