The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) has catered simple, easy-to-understand informational materials that highlight the key advantages of Ukraine’s proposed multiple citizenship law. These materials smoothly in plain form provide the public with information about the initiative’s benefits.
The UWC pinpoints the following advantages of adopting multiple citizenship:
- To protect millions of Ukrainians abroad: It ensures that millions of Ukrainians who were forced to leave their homes retain their Ukrainian passports.
- To engage the global Ukrainian community: It creates opportunities for the Ukrainian diaspora to actively participate in Ukraine’s development and contribute to its future.
- To enhance national security: The law includes provisions to safeguard against individuals from “unfriendly” countries acquiring Ukrainian citizenship, with thorough vetting processes for all new applicants.
- To preserve Ukrainian identity: New citizens will be required to pass exams demonstrating their knowledge of the Ukrainian language, history, and the fundamentals of the Ukrainian Constitution.
- To secure the future for generations: It guarantees citizenship for the descendants of Ukrainian citizens, ensuring a lasting connection to their heritage.

Previously, UWC President Paul Grod announced that the UWC and Ukraine’s Ministry of National Unity had developed a joint position on the multiple citizenship law.
Oleksii Chernyshov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Unity, said on June 3 that the second and final reading of the multiple citizenship bill is slated for June 18.
Specifically, the bill permits individuals to obtain foreign citizenship without forfeiting their Ukrainian citizenship, and also enables foreigners to acquire a Ukrainian passport.
