Term duration: Appointed by the UWC Board for a term of 4 years, or end of President’s current session, renewable.

Why This Role Matters
The Finance Committee Chair plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the integrity and long term sustainability of a global institution at a defining moment in Ukraine’s history. This is not simply a governance position, it is a stewardship responsibility that ensures the Ukrainian World Congress remains financially strong, transparent, and accountable as it leads and unites the global Ukrainian community.
Your leadership will shape how UWC allocates resources, manages risk, and upholds the highest standards of financial governance across more than 60 countries. The decisions you guide will directly influence UWC’s ability to advocate for Ukraine on the world stage, support critical programs, and respond to emerging global challenges with confidence and credibility.
As Chair, you will work alongside distinguished leaders, experts, and partners who share a deep commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty and democratic future. Your oversight will help ensure that UWC remains a trusted, resilient, and mission driven organization for decades to come.
Your Mission
Provide Strategic Financial Leadership
• Working with the Executive Director and Manager Finance, you will establish policies and oversee all financial operations and assets of the UWC as required under UWC by laws.
• Ensure rigorous internal controls, transparent processes, and best practice financial governance to maintain the confidence of global partners and supporters.
Ensure Transparent, High Quality Financial Reporting
• Present financial reports to the Board of Directors and Executive Committee at their regular meetings, or upon request.
• Provide clear, data driven insights to support strategic decision making and global planning.
Strengthen UWC’s Global Financial Capacity
• Collaborate closely with the President, Executive Committee, Treasury/Finance staff, auditors, and regional leaders to build robust financial frameworks that support UWC’s multi country operations.
• Support global fundraising, development programs, and donor stewardship by ensuring financial transparency, compliance, and operational excellence.
• Lead efforts to continuously optimize financial systems, tools, and reporting standards across the global network.
Champion Accountability and Compliance
• Ensure UWC’s financial practices comply with the appropriate legal and regulatory requirements, as well as donor expectations.
• Proactively assess financial risks and recommend policies and improvements to strengthen UWC’s long term resilience.
Be a Steward of Trust
In this volunteer leadership role, you will help maintain the highest standards of integrity and accountability by protecting donor confidence, enabling global partnerships, and ensuring that every dollar strengthens Ukraine and the Ukrainian people around the world.
What You Bring
• Significant financial leadership experience, ideally in corporate finance, nonprofit governance, banking, investment management, or accounting.
• Strong technical competency in financial reporting, budgeting, audit preparation, cash management, and risk oversight.
• Exceptional integrity and commitment to transparency, ethics, and good governance.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with a global Board, staff, volunteers, and external partners.
• Passion for the Ukrainian World Congress mission and for supporting Ukraine’s independence, unity, and global advocacy.
