WFUWO Malaga Conference draws 20 countries for Ukraine-themed conference

The World Federation of Ukrainian Women Organizations (WFUWO) held a conference, titled, “The Voice of Ukrainian Women Worldwide for Ukraine: Advocacy, Truth, Unity” on Sept. 19–20 in Malaga, Spain.

The opening ceremony began with a prayer and the national anthems of Ukraine and Spain. Welcoming remarks were delivered by WFUWO President Jaroszlava Hartyányi, WFUWO First Vice President Maria Finiv, and distinguished Spanish guests.

Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) President Paul Grod also addressed the participants, and emphasized the importance of global solidarity among Ukrainian women in supporting Ukraine and defending its interests internationally.

According to WFUWO, delegates from 20 countries attended the conference. Among them were Nataliya Poshyvaylo-Towler, UWC Vice President for Southern and Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Türkiye, and Lebanon, and Lyuba Lyubchyk, Chair of the UWC’s International Educational Coordinating Council (IECC).

Poshyvaylo-Towler spoke on the panel “Advocacy for Ukraine Worldwide: WFUWO’s Experience in Today’s Challenges,” while Lyubchyk moderated the discussion “Truth as a Weapon: WFUWO’s Work Against Disinformation.”

In addition to the panels, participants joined the local community at the city’s main square on Sept. 21 to proclaim: “Our voice is for peace and for Ukraine.”

“At the center of the event, a large Ukrainian flag was unfurled, a symbol of our strength and resilience. This flashmob became a sign of unity for Ukraine, a reminder that peace is a value we defend together,” WFUWO said.
