Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has awarded the Order of Merit, one of Ukraine’s highest state honors, to two prominent global Ukrainians who live in New Zealand and Australia for their role in rallying international support for Ukraine.
Kateryna Argyrou, Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Sydney, and head of the Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organizations, and Kate Turska, co-chair of the Ukrainian Association of New Zealand (North) and the head of Mahi for Ukraine, received the Order of Merit, 3rd class.
The presidential decree cites their “significant personal contribution to strengthening interstate cooperation, supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, charitable activity, and promoting the Ukrainian state worldwide.”
The Order of Merit, established in 1996, is a state honor recognizing outstanding achievements by citizens in service to the country.
The Ukrainian World Congress congratulated Argyrou and Turska on receiving this distinction and thanked them for their tireless work on behalf of Ukraine and the global Ukrainian community.
Their dedication, leadership, and active civic engagement inspire Ukrainian communities around the world and reflect true service to the Ukrainian cause.
