$150,000 for Girkin’s head – but only in working condition

The Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense promises to pay $100,000 for the handover of Igor Girkin (Strelkov) to Ukraine, Suspilne reports with reference to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense Telegram channel. Meanwhile, Ukrainian volunteers, athletes, and officials have already collected $50,000 USD toward a reward for the capture of the war criminal.

“Igor Girkin (Strelkov) is a Russian terrorist, the former so-called ‘minister of defense of the Donetsk People’s Republic.’ So far, Ukraine’s Security Service and the General Prosecutor’s Office have filed a number of cases against Girkin for terrorist activities, torture, murder, and violation of state sovereignty,” the GUR said in a statement. “Also [Girkin is] announced by the Netherlands as an international criminal, wanted in the case of the shooting down of a civilian Boeing 777, flight MH17.”

The crimes that Girkin is accused of have to do with his actions in Ukraine in the very beginning of the war – in 2014. On October 15, 2022, he was mobilized for further participation in the full-blown incursion.

It is unlikely that there will be a person in Ukraine whom the death of this scoundrel would sadden; nonetheless, he is a crucial witness to Russia’s crimes. That is why Serhiy Sternenko – Ukrainian activist, blogger, and ex-leader of the “Right Sector” Odessa branch, immediately took the initiative to pay a reward for the capture of the “living Girkin,” promising $10,000 from his personal savings to whomever captures the criminal. Other Ukrainian stars joined this initiative, such as Serhiy Stakhovsky, a tennis player, Serhiy Hayday, the head of Luhansk Oblast Military Administration, Taras Topolya, the leader of the band “Antytila,” and Valeriy Markus, a writer, blogger, and traveler. They are donating $10,000 USD each for the cause.

Thus, the total amount of “the prize” for Girkin’s living body is already at $150,000.
