The Pantsir-S1 air defense system was installed near the residence of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, near Moscow. The anti-aircraft missile and gun system was located near the village of Zarechye, the Russian service of Radio Liberty reported.
The construction of the new site was also shown on the air of the Rossiya (“Russia”) TV channel on September 3. Previously, air defense systems were already installed at this place. Then Pantsir-S1 stood in a clean field, and the system was made stationary in January. A fence has surrounded the system, and podiums have been built for installations, journalists reported after analyzing satellite images. The air defense is located less than 10 kilometers from Putin’s residence in Novo-Ogaryovo.
Air defense systems were also strengthened in the Moscow Oblast: the sites were covered with concrete slabs surrounded by fences, and the Pantsir-S1s were placed on podiums. Authorities in Russian regions have reported attacks or the appearance of drones more than 500 times since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine, RFE/RL adds.
