Announcement: Leadership transition at UWC Ukraine Mission

It is with mixed emotions that we announce the departure of Mr. Serhiy Kasyanchuk from his role as the Director of the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) Mission to Ukraine. For the past 10 years, Serhiy has been a pillar of strength and dedication, leading UWC’s Mission in Ukraine with unwavering commitment and passion.

While we are saddened to see him move on, we are incredibly grateful for his decade of service. Serhiy’s new mission will be crucial in strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities, a testament to his enduring dedication to our homeland. Mr. Kasyanchuk will continue to support Ukraine’s defense capabilities as the Project Director for the Canadian military assistance program PROTECT2 (Promoting Reform Objectives through Technical Expertise and Capacity Transfer Program), delivered by Canada’s Department of National Defence. This project aims to provide essential expert and technical assistance to key Ukrainian institutions and agencies in the defense and security sector.

We are pleased to share that Serhiy will continue his invaluable work with the UWC on a volunteer basis. He will focus on areas close to his heart and important to UWC, including historical memory and the Holodomor, Ukrainian education worldwide, and other significant humanitarian initiatives.

Paul Grod, President of the UWC, expressed his deep respect and admiration for Serhiy and his family: “I have immense respect and admiration for Serhiy and his wife, Anna Kasyanchuk, who together gave up their lives in Canada to move back to Ukraine soon after the Revolution of Dignity. They were instrumental in establishing a strong presence and delivering significant projects in Ukraine for the UWC. Serhiy and Anna will continue to be close friends, and I look forward to continuing to work with them to support the UWC’s mission in Ukraine.”

We are also pleased to announce that the leadership transition has already taken place with the addition of Ambassador (ret.) Andriy Shevchenko as the new Head of Mission for UWC in Ukraine. We are confident that Ambassador Shevchenko will continue to build on the strong foundation established by Serhiy.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Serhiy for his remarkable contributions and look forward to his continued involvement with the UWC.
