US President Joe Biden stated in his address to Congress that the Ukrainian military is capable of stopping Putin if provided with the necessary weapons. “Ukraine can stop Putin, if we stand with Ukraine and provide the weapons they need to defend itself,” Biden said.
He emphasized that those blocking aid to Ukraine aim to see the US withdraw from global leadership. “I say this to Congress: We have to stand up to Putin. Send me a bipartisan national security bill. History is literally watching. History is watching. If the United States walks away, it will put Ukraine at risk. Europe is at risk,” Biden stressed.
Currently, democracy worldwide is under threat, according to the politician. Putin won’t stop, he says. “Overseas, Putin of Russia is on the march, invading Ukraine and sowing chaos throughout Europe and beyond. If anybody in this room thinks Putin will stop at Ukraine, I assure you, he will not,” added Biden.
The purpose of the US President’s speech was “to wake up the Congress and alert the American people.” “They’re (Ukraine) not asking for American soldiers. In fact, there are no American soldiers at war in Ukraine, and I’m determined to keep it that way,” emphasized Biden, once again urging the US Congress to approve assistance to Ukraine.
