Duda, Biden and von der Leyen are foreign leaders Ukrainians trust most

Poland’s President Andrzej Duda enjoys the trust of 87% of Ukrainians, according to a poll commissioned by the New Europe Center and conducted by Info Sapiens LLC. U.S. President Joseph Biden (79%) and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen (73%) rank second and third, respectively.

As against 2021, all foreign leaders mentioned in the poll have built up their confidence among Ukrainians but four, namely Hungary’s Prime minister Viktor Orban (13%, down from 21.9%), Xi Jinping of China (9.2%, down from 21.8%), Belarus self-proclaimed president Alexander Lukashenka (3%, down from 29.4%) and, of course, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin (0.6%, down from 12.1%).

The researchers warn that the 2021 and 2022 surveys are not entirely comparable. First, they were conducted using different methods. Second, the 2022 survey does not sufficiently reflects the opinion of Ukrainian refugees abroad as well as the opinion of Ukrainian citizens living on territories captured by Russia in 2022 and having no access to Ukrainian mobile providers. Anyway, the data from the two polls is good enough to show the trends.
