The fifth Ukrainian Week advocacy event, organized by the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA) and the Ukrainian National Information Service (UNIS), was held in Washington, D.C. on Feb. 2-7.
American and Ukrainian politicians, religious leaders, and civil society representatives gathered for the event. A key highlight was the 20th Ukrainian Prayer Breakfast.
On Feb. 3, the Ukrainian delegation met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio to discuss Russia’s unjustified war against Ukraine, humanitarian challenges, and continued support for the Ukrainian people.
The week also showcased bipartisan support for Ukraine in the U.S. Congress, with co-chairs of the Congressional Ukrainian Caucus and members of the House of Representatives from both Republican and Democratic parties participating in joint events and public statements.
During Ukrainian Week, a Sister City agreement was signed between Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Sumy, Ukraine, solidifying cooperation in economics, education, culture, and technology, and strengthening municipal ties between the U.S. and Ukraine.
The program also emphasized the role of faith and civil society in countering Russian aggression. Participants highlighted the importance of defending freedom, human rights, and supporting Ukraine amid the ongoing full-scale war.
Ukrainian Week serves as an annual platform to strengthen Ukrainian-American partnerships and advocate internationally for continued support of Ukraine.
