Kogutyak on ‘Coalition of the Willing’: Over 40 countries ready to back Ukraine

More than 40 countries around the world are willing to assist Ukraine in various ways. 

On land, at sea, and in the air, said Volodymyr Kogutyak, UWC Vice President for Western Europe and Vice President of the Association of Ukrainians in France (AUF), in an interview with Kyiv 24.

Kogutyak was commenting on French President Emmanuel Macron’s Dec. 1 statement that the international grouping of the “Coalition of the Willing” has finalized a package of security guarantees for Ukraine.

It’s a group of countries that voluntarily have united to pursue the goal for the specific military and political objective of helping Ukraine in its struggle against unjustified Russian aggression. 

Kogutyak said that the coalition was initiated jointly by French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. 

“In France, generals from different countries are discussing all the details of these matters. It’s important to understand that all this work is happening in France, which is why we are sincerely grateful to the country for its decisive support and active efforts on this issue,” Kogutyak said.

He said that some countries are prepared to send troops to Ukrainian cities and help intercept Russian missiles, while others will provide logistical and organizational support for personnel who work on the ground.

Kogutyak also mentioned the importance of a unified European stance. 

“Only if we maintain a common position with our European partners will our voices be heard more effectively,” he said.
