On 9 February 2016, the Academic Council of Lviv Polytechnic National University, headed by its Rector, Professor Yuriy Bobalo, unanimously resolved to confer the honorary title of Doctor Honoris Causa on the President of the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC), Eugene Czolij.
The announcement by Lviv Polytechnic National University notes: “This unanimous decision was based on the great personal contribution by Eugene Czolij to furthering Ukrainian interests in the international community, and mobilizing Ukrainian resources in the diaspora for the development of Ukraine and to overcome Russian aggression. It is also symbolic of the partnership and close cooperation between Lviv Polytechnic and the Ukrainian World Congress, and specifically its President.”
UWC President Eugene Czolij became the 45th recipient of the honorary doctorate, joining prominent academics, community and political activists, who have been recognized by Lviv Polytechnic National University since its founding in 1844.
“I am very grateful to Lviv Polytechnic National University and its International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations for many years of productive cooperation, and for this great honor that has been bestowed upon me, and which compels me to work even harder in furthering Ukrainian interests throughout the world,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
