Over 100 defenders of Ukraine freed Thursday

A hundred and seven Ukrainian warriors were freed from Russian captivity through a POW swap on Thursday, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, wrote in his Telegram channel.

The released defenders of Ukraine include six officers and 101 sergeants and privates and represent the Armed Forces, Navy, Territorial Defense, Border Guard Service, National Police, Special Transport Service and National Guard. Seventy-four of them defended Azovstal.

“We brought home many wounded in battles. In particular, we managed to exchange seriously injured and bedridden from Mariupol, from Azovstal, boys with shrapnel wounds to arms and legs and gunshot wounds on various parts of the body. There are people with amputated limbs, those with burns who do not feel part of their face, and those with infected wounds. One of the warriors had been wounded as a result of the explosion in Olenivka concentration camp,” said Yermak.

According to UNIAN, the Defense Ministry reported 24 POW swaps carried out as of early October, having released from Russian captivity a total of 808 people.
