Russia kills World and European powerlifting champion

In Russia’s war against Ukraine, the world and European champion in powerlifting, record-holder Oleksandr Bilokon, has been killed in action, announced Vadym Kysil, the Honorary President of the Ukrainian Federation of Greco-Roman and Sports Wrestling.

“Oleksander was one of the strongest individuals in Ukraine. In 2017, he set a record in the center of Odesa for pulling a trailer filled with people using only his own strength. In 2020, Oleksandr Bilokon earned the title of Master of Sport in Hero Games. Eternal memory, eternal glory to the Hero. Sincere condolences to the family and loved ones. May he rest in peace,” wrote Kysil.

Oleksandr Bilokon was born in Bila Tserkva, Kyiv Oblast. In addition to holding the Ukrainian record and earning the title of Master of Sport, in 2020, the athlete claimed the top spot in the 95th weight category in the competition for the title of “Strongest Man in Ukraine.” In 2021, at the finals of the first League of Strongmen, he set a Ukrainian record in truck pull.

Oleksandr joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine in March of last year.
