Russians hit residential building in Lviv

Russian troops hit Lviv using missiles on July 6. The occupiers targeted a critical infrastructure facility. However, the invaders inflicted the main blow on a residential high-rise – the building was destroyed. As of this morning, there are 5 killed and 37 injured civilians.

“A city that meets Europeans on the border with Poland every day and has become a refuge for thousands of Ukrainians since the beginning of the war. … The Russians have again acted vilely and cynically, shelling a border city of Ukraine, for the sake of possible intimidation of Europe,” Serhii Kruk, Head of the State Emergency Service, said.

Clearing of the rubble is ongoing. “We are looking for more people because we think that there may be people under the rubble because one more family does not get in touch,” Maksym Kozytskyi, Head of the Lviv Oblast Military Administration, said on air during the 24/7 national newscast.

About 30 houses were damaged, half a hundred cars were destroyed, dozens of windows were broken, 10 campuses of two educational institutions where internally displaced persons were staying, a substation, an orphanage, and a sanatorium school were damaged, the Oblast Military Administration reported.

A missile fragment fell in one of the oblasts’ villages. A crater was created. Preliminarily, there were no casualties. Another part of the projectile destroyed a private household in another settlement, the Lviv Oblast Military Administration added.

Marija Pejčinović Burić, Secretary General of the Council of Europe, condemned Russia’s missile attack on Lviv. Apart from that, Bridget Brink, United States Ambassador to Ukraine, reacted to the shelling. “Vicious Russian missile attack on Lviv. Russia’s repeated attacks on civilians are absolutely horrifying,” Brink wrote.
