Russia’s missile attack on Ukraine kills at least 22 civilians

As of 5:00 p.m., Russia’s predawn massive missile strike at Ukraine on Friday has taken the lives of 22 civilians and injured 24 more in Uman, Dnipro and Ukrainka.

At about 4:00 a.m., the terrorist state used its Tu-95 strategic bombers to launch 23 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles, the Air Force Command reported. The attack was also complemented by tactical drones. The Ukrainian forces shot down 21 of the 23 missiles and two drones.

In Uman, Cherkasy Oblast, two missiles hit an apartment building and a warehouse, killing 20 people, including three children. Eighteen civilians were injured, Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said.

“One of the rockets hit a nine-story residential building. In this house, the first section was practically destroyed. According to preliminary data, 109 people lived in this section’s 46 apartments, of which 27 were completely destroyed,” said Klymenko.

Seventeen residents of the house, including three children, were rescued.

One of the residents shot a video of the attack’s terrible consequences in her apartment – once cozy and now covered in drops of blood and broken glass.

“A rocket hit our house. We’re all covered in blood, I don’t know, the windowpane knocked out… We’re just covered in blood,” she says, weeping, in the video and adds that she hates the Russians.

A 31-year-old woman and a two-year-old child have been killed by the Russian strike on a private home in Dnipro, according to the oblast military administration head, Serhiy Lysak. Three persons were wounded; a 58-year-old man and a 57-year-old woman were taken to a hospital, and a 31-year-old man will receive outpatient treatment.

In the Kyiv Oblast’s city of Ukrainka, a missile’s fragments hit an apartment building, damaging two apartments, said the head of the Kyiv Oblast Military Administration, Ruslan Kravchenko. Two persons were injured, including a 13-year-old girl who was delivered to Kyiv’s specialized hospital for children.

Over Kyiv, Ukrainian Air Defense shot down 11 cruise missiles and two drones. “After a 51-day pause, the enemy launched another missile attack on Kyiv. The last missile attack on the capital was on March 9, 2023,” said Kyiv City Military Administration Head Serhiy Popko.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the attack “another night of Russian terror.”

“Russian evil can be stopped by weapons – our defenders are doing it. And it can be stopped by sanctions – global sanctions must be enhanced,” the president said on Twitter.

According to Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, “missile strikes killing innocent Ukrainians in their sleep, including a 2-years-old child, is Russia’s response to all peace initiatives. The way to peace is to kick Russia out of Ukraine. The way to peace is to arm Ukraine with F-16s and protect children from Russian terror.”
