The seventh ambulance has arrived in Ukraine from Japan as a result of cooperation between the nonprofit Kraiany Association of Ukraine-Japan Friendship and the local organization SunPanSa.
“The ambulance has already reached its destination. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped along the way!” the association wrote.
Previously, the vehicle served Japanese firefighters. It is still in excellent condition and fully equipped, and will now help save lives in Ukraine.
“We hope this ambulance will save as many lives as possible in Ukraine,” said Shinpachi Kikuchi, manager of the Uwajima fire department, in an interview with NHK.
The ambulance’s trek to Ukraine started in March.
“The Japanese lifesaver travelled many sea miles and thousands of kilometers across Europe. It brought humanitarian aid for a hospital. We’ll do some maintenance, upgrade it, and put it to work,” wrote Ukrainian community activist and military volunteer Anna Maiboroda.
She thanked the Ukrainian community for their help.
“We are grateful to our friends — the Kraiany Association of Ukraine-Japan Friendship — for their support and contribution to saving lives! Thanks also to the Japanese prefectures and Krayany’s friends who continue sending ambulances to Ukraine,” the post reads.
Kraiany’s humanitarian work focuses on logistics — gathering and shipping aid from Japan to Europe and then handing it over to Ukrainian volunteers. Representatives of the organization previously shared these efforts in an interview with the Ukrainian World Congress.
In May, representatives of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America arrived in Europe on a humanitarian mission and delivered 22 ambulances to Ukraine.
