On January 22, Ukraine’s Day of Unity, the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) calls upon all peace-loving people to stand in defence of Ukraine’s independence and sovereignty – #StandWithUkraine.
The declaration of an independent and unified Ukraine in 1919 was the culmination of a centuries-old struggle of the Ukrainian people for unity, self-determination, and freedom. These events laid the groundwork for the restoration of independence in 1991 and continue to inspire the Ukrainian people to unite in opposing the Russian aggressor.
After 8 years of bloody war against Ukraine, Russia is threatening to further invade Ukraine and other countries in the region. A new regional war will engulf Europe and decimate the international order.
The Ukrainian World Congress calls on the international community to provide military and security assistance to Ukraine, suspend Russia’s NordStream2 pipeline, impose strict punitive sanctions against Russia, and together stop a new war from emerging in Europe. #StopPutinNOW
“We call upon the international community to stand up to Putin’s imperialistic ambitions in defense of the right of Ukrainians to live freely and peacefully on their land,” said UWC President Pavlo Grod. “Over one hundred years ago, the Ukrainian people declared independence only to have it taken from them by the Russian Red Army. Today, we the Ukrainian people will not let that happen again. We have a united and motivated nation with powerful international friends. Not only will we put down Putin’s aggression, we will help free the Russian people from their oppressive ruling elite.”
Stand together with Ukraine. Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the heroes!
