
Stefan Romaniw, UWC’s First Vice President, and Chair of the UWC International Committee for Recognition of Holodomor as Genocide expressed gratitude to the governments of those countries that voted for the recognition of the Holodomor genocide in Ukraine in 1932-33.
“Ukraine Remembers! The World Acknowledges! The international campaign to have Governments recognize Ukraine’s Holodomor as Genocide continues. We can only hope for a better future if recognize the crimes of humanity,” – UWC First Vice-President Stefan Romaniw said. – Millions perished due to Stalin’s atrocities against the Ukrainian nation. The UWC thanks and acknowledges those Governments that have formally recognized the Holodomor as Genocide. We call on other Governments to follow suit”.
Since its foundation, the Ukrainian World Congress has fought for recognition of the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as a genocide of Ukrainians at the international level. Efforts in this direction continue, and just this week, thanks to Ukrainian communities and organizations, as well as friends of Ukraine, the Holodomor in Ukraine was recognized as genocide by the governments of Romania, Ireland, Moldova, as well as by the opposition of Belarus.
According to Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, the majority of political factions in the German Bundestag have reached an agreement on a joint resolution recognizing the Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people, and voting on it will take place next week.
All democratic German fractions agreed on a milestone joint Holodomor resolution to be passed next week.
Decided: Bundestag sees it as a genocide.
