As Christmas approaches, Ukrainians are preparing not only for holiday celebrations but also for acts of generosity. More than half of the country, 64 percent, say they will donate part of their holiday budget to charity this year, according to Deloitte Ukraine’s Ukrainians’ Holiday Shopping 2025 survey, cited by Ekonomichna Pravda.
The number of people planning Christmas and New Year shopping has grown notably, rising from 65 percent last year to 75 percent this season. And for many, giving is as much a tradition as decorating a tree: charity ranks high on holiday priorities, with eight in ten Ukrainians directing their support toward the country’s frontline defenders.
The survey reflects a representative cross-section of Ukraine’s population by gender, age, community size, and employment. More than 1,000 respondents took part through an online questionnaire designed to match Ukraine’s current socio-demographic structure.
The findings echo broader calls from Ukraine’s international partners. Earlier, Canada’s Ambassador to Ukraine, Natalka Cmoc, urged Ukrainian communities in Canada and worldwide to continue advocating for Ukraine and to support Ukrainian organizations — especially during the Christmas season, when solidarity carries particular meaning.
