Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) President Eugene Czolij expressed condolences to the Japanese people in a letter sent on 18 April 2016 to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan in Ukraine, Shigeki Sumi, following two powerful earthquakes on 14 and 16 April 2016 in the Kyushu region of Japan that have resulted in tens of deaths, and hundreds of injuries.

The earthquakes levelled buildings, destroyed roads, sparked landslides, and thousands have been forced to flee their homes.

“The Ukrainian World Congress expresses deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and prays for all of the victims of this natural disaster,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
