On the ninth day since the death of Ukrainian defender Yurii Sayenko, the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) honors him. The defender fought under the call sign of “Fox” and was the сousin of Kateryna Argyrou, head of the Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations and a Board Director of the UWC.
The UWC honors Sayenko’s memory and extends heartfelt condolences to Argyrou, her family, and all who knew and loved him.
Sayenko served in the 63rd Separate Battalion of the 103rd Separate Brigade of the Territorial Forces that are attached to Ukraine’s military.
A skilled technician by trade, he joined the Ukrainian army without hesitation immediately after Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022.
Tragically, Sayenko was killed on July 24 at the age of 32 during a combat mission when a first-person view drone struck him while he was selflessly evacuating wounded comrades from the battlefield.
He leaves behind two young sons — six-year-old Zakhar and four-year-old Makar — a loving wife, Ulyana, his sister, grieving parents, and other heartbroken relatives.
In his honor, the UWC initiative Unite With Ukraine has launched a fundraiser to purchase critical tactical medical equipment, including the gear that supported Sayenko during combat.
Let us honor his memory by continuing the mission for which he gave his life. Let us help Ukrainian defenders have everything they need to save others and survive.
Glory to the Heroes. Eternal memory.
