On 23 August 2016 Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) President Eugene Czolij addressed a special meeting with the leadership of the UWC and Ukrainian diaspora communities, and the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Vadym Prystaiko, Acting Minister of Health and Ambassadors of Ukraine, that took place in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Kyiv, Ukraine.

The goal of this first of its kind meeting was to agree upon common means to strengthen and coordinate future cooperation on issues related to the defence of the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine, the acceleration of European and Euro-Atlantic integration, countering Russian disinformation and providing Ukraine with the necessary humanitarian assistance.

The UWC President familiarized the participants with the work of the UWC focused on convincing the international community that the current aggression of the Russian Federation in Eastern Ukraine is the greatest world crisis. He added that by defending its own borders Ukraine is, in fact, stopping the Russian aggressor from advancing West, and that it is in the best interests of the international community for Ukraine to win the hybrid war against the Russian Federation and as a result, to guarantee peace and stability in the world.

The humanitarian needs of Ukraine were presented by Acting Minister of Health Dr. Ulana Suprun who, from March 2014 to July 2016, headed UWC Humanitarian Initiatives including Patriot Defence.

“This meeting was productive and beneficial for the exchange of ideas on strengthening international support for Ukraine in this critical time and for ensuring joint success,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
