UWC calls on UN member states to co-sponsor
The Ukrainian World Congress addressed all UN member states calling to co-sponsor a draft resolution being presented at the UN Security Council February 25, 2022. The Resolution condemns the Russian invasion in Ukraine and calls for an immediate end to the war.
Recalling the obligations of all states under international laws and treaties, the document condemns the Russian Federation’s aggression against Ukraine and reaffirms the commitment of the Security Council to the “sovereignty, independence, unity, and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders.”
Calling for an immediate end to the aggression, the draft resolution calls for the Russian Federation to “immediately, completely, and unconditionally withdraw all of its military forces from the territory of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders.”
“We call on all peace-loving nations to steadfastly uphold their commitment to the United Nations Charter which includes refraining from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity of any state,” urged UWC President Paul Grod. “The intent of Russian President Vladimir Putin is no longer a subject of speculation, and the international community must stop him immediately to prevent further carnage in Ukraine. Global peace and security are at stake.”
