UWC appoints Adrian Hewryk as Vice President of Finance

March 28, 2026 – The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC), the global voice of Ukrainians worldwide, is pleased to announce the appointment of Adrian Hewryk as Vice President of Finance, strengthening its leadership at a critical moment for Ukraine and the global Ukrainian community.

As Vice President of Finance, Adrian will lead UWC’s global financial governance and sustainability strategy, working closely with UWC leadership, member organizations, donors, and partners around the world. His focus will be on:

  • Strengthening financial governance, long-term budgeting, and sustainability across UWC operations
  • Ensuring transparent and values-aligned management of funds supporting UWC’s advocacy, humanitarian, and institutional initiatives
  • Developing modern financial systems and controls following international best practices
  • Directing responsible allocation of resources to achieve UWC’s key priorities – victory for Ukraine, national recovery, and resilient Ukrainian communities worldwide
  • Building trust with donors, partners, and stakeholders through high-quality reporting and accountability

Adrian Hewryk brings over 30 years of experience in international development, governance, and institutional strengthening. He currently serves as President of the East-West Management Institute (EWMI), a global nonprofit funded by major bilateral, multilateral, and private donors. At EWMI he also led a comprehensive modernization of operations, implementing integrated global systems for accounting, procurement, payroll, travel, and donor reporting. Earlier in his career, Adrian was the first Director of Freedom House’s Ukraine office overseeing programs on press freedom, economic reforms, and human rights. He also worked at the Harvard Ukrainian Research Institute (HURI), coordinating projects with Ukrainian academic institutions and where he also served as an editor of the Harvard Library of Early Ukrainian Literature.

Adrian’s leadership is grounded in deep roots within the Ukrainian community. Raised in a family of post-World War II Ukrainian refugees active in civic, cultural, and church institutions in North America, he has devoted decades to community service. He currently serves as President of the Ukrainian Museum in New York, which launched the SAFE program to aid Ukrainian museums and cultural centers during the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Adrian resides in Toronto with his family, fostering and passing on the values of Ukrainian identity, civic responsibility, and service.

Paul Grod, President of the Ukrainian World Congress, commented on the appointment:

“Adrian brings the professional excellence, credibility, and deep personal commitment to Ukraine that UWC needs at this moment. His leadership will strengthen our financial foundation and help us secure the resources necessary to achieve our highest priorities – victory for Ukraine, national recovery, and resilient Ukrainian communities worldwide. We are proud to welcome him to the UWC leadership team.”

Adrian Hewryk’s appointment underscores UWC’s dedication to building strong, professional institutions capable of sustaining long-term support for Ukraine and ensuring that Ukrainians, wherever they live, remain united, resilient, and actively engaged in shaping Ukraine’s future.
