The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) expresses its disappointment with the results of the consultative referendum on the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement that took place on 6 April 2016 in the Netherlands.
The UWC supports the statement of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko that “Ukraine will keep on implementing the Association Agreement and ensure the establishment of DCFTA with the European Union, for it is a way to modernize Ukraine and reinforce its independence.”
The UWC remains confident that the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement is the right way forward for Ukraine and the European Union and all its member states, including the Netherlands, and we trust that the Dutch authorities will put forward proposals to ensure the success of this Association Agreement.
“The continued implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement will serve the best interests of all concerned, including the Netherlands, a country that will have open access to Ukraine’s market of 45 million consumers,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij. “Moreover, this market will become much more familiar for the Dutch as Ukraine commits with this Association Agreement to adopt EU norms and standards.”
