The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) welcomes the introduction on 2 December 2014 in the United States House of Representatives of Bill H.R.5782 – Ukraine Freedom Support Act of 2014, a companion to the Senate Bill S.2828, by Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-OH9), Co-Chair of the Congressional Ukrainian Caucus.
Bill H.R.5782 authorizes defensive military assistance to Ukraine and granting it Major non-NATO Ally Status by the United States.
The UWC supports the call of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America for all friends of Ukraine in the United States to act immediately in support of Bill H.R.5782 by contacting their Member of Congress and emphasizing the urgency of this Bill, which will not only help Ukraine defend itself from a foreign aggressor, but will contribute to preserving global peace and security.
“Time is of the essence since Congress is in session for only one more week,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij. “All Americans who cherish democracy and value human rights and fundamental freedoms should contact their Member of Congress without delay.”
