The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) leadership addressed the newly-elected President of the Argentine Republic, Javier Gerardo Milei, with an appeal to increase Argentina’s political and diplomatic support of Ukraine in 2024.
On behalf of the global Ukrainian community, UWC President Paul Grod and UWC Vice President for South and Central America Jorge Danylyszyn congratulated President Milei on his recent inauguration as Argentina’s new President. They expressed their hopes for his success in enacting crucial reforms aimed at bolstering the country’s economy and enhancing the well-being of its citizens.
Mr. Grod and Mr. Danylyszyn have expressed gratitude to President Milei for Argentina’s attention and consideration for its Ukrainian community and for the ongoing humanitarian aid extended by the people of Argentina to Ukraine in 2022 and 2023.
“We also admire and express our gratitude for your personal stance on the unjust and ominous situation in which Ukraine and its people found themselves,” wrote the UWC leadership.
Speaking about the issue of Russia’s unprovoked and brutal full-scale war of aggression against Ukraine, unleashed by Vladimir Putin’s criminal regime on February 24, 2022, the UWC leadership called on the President of Argentina to increase support for Ukraine in 2024, and to provide Kyiv will all available political and diplomatic support, including the support President Volodymyr Zelensky’s Peace Plan.
“With this war, Russia seeks to return the world to the era of empires and “spheres of influence,” where bigger and stronger countries decide the fate of smaller and weaker countries. The lack of the international community’s strong and adequate reaction to this aggression heats irredentist intentions of authoritarian regimes and dictatorships and provokes further instability all over the world, including South America,” reads the official letter.
Finally, Paul Grod and Jorge Danylyszyn extended the season’s greetings to President Milei and wished that the year 2024 be victorious for both Argentina and Ukraine.
