The Ukrainian World Congress extends its warmest congratulations to Romania and the Romanian people on the 20th anniversary of Romania’s accession into the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
On March 29, 2004, Romania formally submitted its instruments of accession. This significant step marked Romania’s entry into NATO during the second wave of post-Cold War enlargement, alongside Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, and Slovenia.
Since its accession into NATO, Romania has played a crucial role in promoting security and cooperation within the Alliance, contributing to peacekeeping operations, and enhancing interoperability among member states.
“Romania has played an important role in safeguarding democracy and promoting stability in the region. We are grateful for its military, economic and political support for Ukraine as well as its support for the Ukrainians who were forced to flee their homeland as a result of Russia genocidal war and continuous missile and drone strikes on Ukraine,” stated UWC President Paul Grod.
“Congratulations, Romania! We thank you for your support of Ukraine’s accession into the NATO alliance!”
